Yard Waste Collection


* YARD WASTE PICKUP UPDATE:
The final day for curbside Yard Waste pickup will be Friday, December 9th, 2011. Please have your bagged leaves at curbside by Friday morning to help us finish the pickup in a timely manner. The yard waste is to be placed in clear or translucent bags and may not weigh more than 50 pounds each.

* COMPOST SITE UPDATE:
The Compost Site will be closed on Saturday, November 26th to observe the Thanksgiving holiday. The following weekend,
Saturday, December 3rd, will be the last day the Compost Site is open for this season.

The City of Adrian offers residents curbside Yard Waste Collection each year in  in the spring, during the month of April, and again in the fall, beginning in October, with the ending date to be announced (dependent upon the weather). 

The curbside Fall Yard Waste Collection began on Monday, October 3rd, 2011 and continues until the ending date is announced (dependent upon the weather.) 

During each Yard Waste Collection season, residents are allowed to place their yard waste  (leaves, grass clippings, garden debris, shrubbery and twigs less than 1 inch diameter) at the curb in clear or translucent plastic bags. Each bag may not weigh more than 50 pounds and must be located in a separate pile from the trash. Brown Kraft paper bags are not allowed.

Yard waste that is placed in unapproved containers or bags may be picked up by the city, however the property owner or occupant will be charged for this service. The fee will be equal to the labor, materials, equipment, and administrative fees required to pick up the yard waste. Once the yard waste pickup has ended for the given season, yard waste may not be placed at the curb. 
 
Additionally, residents may take their grass, leaves, garden waste, as well as brush and branches, to the City Compost Site which is located on Oakwood Avenue. Leaves and grass SHALL be de-bagged by the residents prior to leaving the compost site. Residents MAY NO LONGER DROP OFF BAGS. Residents are welcome to bring the material loose and dump it on the designated pile.  The Compost Site is now open every Saturday from 8:00am-2:00pm. 
 
The Parks & Forestry department provides curbside pickup of bundled brush April through November. Residents may bundle brush in 3 foot lengths and leave it on the curb the first week of every month. Bundles cannot exceed 50 pounds. Further questions regarding Brush pick up can be directed to the Parks department at 517-264-4872.

Residents interested in using the Compost Site must obtain a window sticker from the City Clerk's office on the 2nd floor of City Hall,
Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm. Residents will receive only one sticker per address.  Random checks for proof of residency or city property ownership will be conducted at the site.
