Adrian Police Department Wins 70th Annual Police Pistol Shoot
On Thursday, September 6, 2007, the Michigan Police Pistol Match, attracting 203 officers and representing 33 departments, was held in Jackson, Michigan. The Adrian Police Department fielded two teams in the Class C Division. Class C is comprised of officers from departments with sworn personnel strengths between 21 and 50 officers. Team 1, whose members include Officers John Birdwell, Eric Adams, and Robert Watson, finished first, with an aggregate score of 766, 9X. They were awarded the Governor’s Cup for their effort. Team 2, consisting of Deputy Chief James Schwartz, Officer Thomas Riney, and Officer Edward McNulty, finished in 8th place, with an aggregate score of 606, 4X. In individual competition, Officer Adams finished 2nd in Class C, scoring 268, 5X. Officer Birdwell finished in 4th, scoring 259, 4X. Retired Adrian Police Lieutenant Jack Quigley finished 2nd in the Retiree’s match, scoring 267, 5X, out of a possible 300 points.
